Luis Abraham Ortiz: “The letter as graphic form is always present in
my work.  The verbal content of the written word is the point of
departure of my creative process.  The form of the letter and its
integration to other elements is the way I use to bring forth a message,
a very important element of my work.”

Education:
1970 B.F.A.: Escuela de Artes Plasticas de Puerto Rico
1970-1973: Graphic Artist, Department of Cultural Activities,
Universidad de Puerto Rico
1973-1980: Master Printer, Lorenzo Homar Workshop
1990 to the present: Printmaking Professor, Escuela de Artes Plasticas
1980 to the present: Design and master printer own workshop.
I always use the letter form as
important part of my work. Alisa
Fox uses text in her image
concept too.

Last summer while walking in a
park I found a text of the
philosopher Lucius Seneca "All
art is but imitation of nature".

This text serves as the point of
departure to my print.  I decided
to integrate her image with that
text.

I believe no matter what type of
art, be it figurative, abstract or
conceptual, nature is our great
teacher, our source of
inspiration.  Each blue its blue,
each green its mountain, each
night its black, each star its light.
